Proactive assurance solution allows monitoring centers to verify end-to-end video visibility and compliance.

[Charlotte, NC – June 5, 2025] – Immix®, a global leader in software for managed video and remote security services, is proud to announce the launch of its Visual Camera Health (VCH) solution, powered by Actuate, a long-trusted AI-Link partner to Immix. The new solution marks the expansion of the relationship between Immix and Actuate into new smart monitoring innovations that will enable improved operational efficiency and service delivery for remote security service providers.

The critical issue that VCH is designed to address is the complete health and integrity of all cameras that a center monitors.  The solution does not simply check to see if the camera works, but whether or not the view makes it all the way to the operator’s screen inside of the monitoring platform. Camera health is not complete without this key differentiator, which helps to close the last mile – ensuring the intended field of view is available when an operator needs to act.

While traditional camera health tools focus only on whether a device is online or technically functioning, VCH goes deeper – confirming that the camera stream can traverse the complex chain of dependencies to actually display correctly through the monitoring center’s software. It is a layer of proactive verification that acts as an insurance policy – ensuring that when a camera is called to duty, it’s able to perform.

Bridging the View Gap Between Site and Center

Camera health isn’t just about uptime – it’s about visibility. Even if a camera is online, operators may still be blind due to a number of variables that can impact the video stream including things like stream path failures, firewall rules, VPN routing issues, credential mismatches, bandwidth constraints, dynamic IP shifts, substream misconfigurations, and other silent breakdowns along the route.

In addition to verifying stream accessibility, VCH checks that the image aligns with the camera’s intended field of view and remains usable for monitoring – confirming it hasn’t shifted, become obstructed, or suffered from a loss of visual clarity due to factors like dust, smudging, rain, lens focus issues, or general image degradation. The result is confidence that the view expected is the view available to the operator, when it’s needed.

“The moment of a security incident is not the time to discover that a camera is misaligned, degraded, or inaccessible,” said Chris Brown, CEO of Immix. “VCH gives our customers the confidence that their monitoring partners can see what they need to see – exactly when it matters most.”

Powered by Actuate’s AI: Visibility You Can Trust

At the core of VCH is Actuate’s advanced video AI, which provides robust and scalable intelligence to support accurate camera health assessments across thousands of devices. The solution monitors several metrics to ensure each camera is ready when called upon:

  • Connectivity: Verifies that a live stream can be accessed from the camera through the monitoring platform – confirming visibility from end to end.
  • Scene Change: Flags significant differences between the current view and the reference image, such as shifts in field of view caused by tampering, obstruction, or repositioning.
  • Image Quality: Assesses clarity and resolution to help identify whether the image remains usable for monitoring purposes.
  • Stream Quality: Evaluates the stability and responsiveness of the live video feed, helping ensure that operators experience fluid and reliable viewing when the camera is in use.

From Snapshot to Scripted Resolution

When a camera issue is identified during a check, Immix presents a side-by-side comparison of the reference image (the intended view) and the current snapshot, making discrepancies immediately visible. Scripted workflows can guide the operator through the appropriate response—but monitoring centers have full control over how these events are handled. They can choose to route issues to operators in real-time or manage them passively through reports, avoiding unnecessary interruptions to live monitoring operations.

Designed for Scalability and a Smarter Rollout
VCH is designed to scale effortlessly across hundreds or thousands of devices, with a low-overhead deployment model suitable for central stations, SOCs, and command centers alike. For many monitoring centers, the recommended starting point is to enable VCH in reporting-only mode – allowing them to assess the scope of existing camera issues before introducing operator-facing workflows. This approach gives centers the insight needed to prioritize resolution, set service-level expectations, and confidently roll out VCH as part of a value-added offering to customers – without burdening operators or disrupting current operations.

Proactive Value for Monitoring Providers and Customers
VCH doesn’t just improve technical oversight – it enhances the entire service relationship. By identifying issues before the customer notices them, monitoring providers can shift from reactive problem-solvers to proactive service partners. Instead of receiving a call that a camera was offline or pointed in the wrong direction during a critical event, the monitoring center can be the one notifying the customer that a camera needs adjustment or maintenance – strengthening trust and reinforcing the value of the monitoring service.

This proactive posture opens new touchpoints for customer engagement, offering opportunities to upsell health check services, camera cleanings, or upgraded equipment. It also supports the installer, dealer, or integrator by surfacing actionable maintenance needs before they escalate. The result is a stronger relationship between all stakeholders – monitoring center, installer, and end customer – anchored in consistent performance and reliable communication.

Too often, the failure of a camera only becomes obvious in hindsight – after an incident has occurred, and there’s nothing useful to review. VCH helps monitoring centers close that gap by routinely validating that each camera is still doing its job, so customers aren’t left in the dark when it matters.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Immix on Visual Camera Health,” said Ken Francis, CEO of Actuate. “This solution reflects our shared vision of proactive, intelligent security monitoring – delivering actionable insights that improve performance, reduce downtime, and ultimately help our customers protect what matters most.”
